Potential World War III?

Posted by Aims: On 11:39

International security experts, opinion formers often point out that there are three potential flash points which could spark WW III. They are Kashmir (Pakistan-India), Taiwan Strait and middle east (Israel-Palestine).

Among the three spots, Israel-Palestine issue is currently on media spotlight. Iran is trying to develop nuclear technology which is the center of concern for Israel and Western powers. Iran officially says its nuclear programme is for peaceful purpose but concerned parties are not convinced.

The reasons why Israel and western powers do not believe the Iranian's claim are that Iran is thought to be supporting Hasbollah in Labenon and Hamas in Gaza which are troubling Israel. And Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad accuses Israeli government of being racist and believes that it should be eradicated.

But the central issue I like to point out is not about who accuses who of being what, however, it is about potential pre-emptive strike in Iranian nuclear fascilities from Israel which probably could lead to wider wars.

A few days ago, the new Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met US president Obama in Washington. Medias and experts view/speculate the meeting as Israel is trying to seek green light from Washington for carrying out pre-emptive strike to prevent Iran from becoming nuclear power.

Israel cannot strike alone if US does not approve because Israeli fighter planes need to cross Iraqi airspace which is now under control of US. Therefore, any pre-emptive strikes from Israel will be viewed as declaration of war not only between Israel and Iran but also Iran-Iraq and Iran-US. All US bases in middle east will retaliation targets for Iran. If Iran relatiates US bases and Israel, political stability in middle east will be worsen which already is volitile.

If such kind of pre-emptive strike is ever to happen, restruction of Iraq and Afghanistan will be in danger and hatred toward Israel and US will certainly increase across the globe.

Diplomatic solution is the only viable solution to this.
